Woman killed in Anaheim shooting; suspect taken into custody.

A woman was fatally shot at a residence in Anaheim early Wednesday morning, May 20, prompting the arrest of a man believed to be her partner, according to authorities. The incident occurred in the 2200 block of West Huntington Avenue, situated just west of Brookhurst Street. Anaheim police received multiple reports of gunfire at approximately 2:45 a.m., as stated by Sergeant Matt Sutter.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a 38-year-old suspect had discharged a firearm both inside the residence and outdoors. He was apprehended after officers employed a “minor use of force” during the arrest, and a firearm was recovered from the front yard of the property.

Following the arrest, police entered the house and discovered the woman deceased in the garage. There were five other individuals present at the residence during the incident, all of whom have since been taken to the Anaheim Police Department’s headquarters for questioning. Authorities are also conducting interviews with the suspect.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect may have resided at the property, although it remains unclear whether the victim also lived there. Sergeant Sutter indicated that the evidence collected thus far points to a potential domestic-violence incident.

Local law enforcement conducted inspections of nearby homes for any potential damage or injuries resulting from the gunfire; fortunately, they reported that no such incidents had been documented.
