Woman stabs partner to death on Brooklyn street, witnesses report she calmly walked away after the incident.

A tragic incident occurred in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, where a 38-year-old man was fatally stabbed by a woman identified as his romantic partner. The incident unfolded late in the evening on April 14 at approximately 11 p.m., in front of a building located on Eastern Parkway near Utica Avenue. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD) Chief of Detectives, Joseph Kenny, the couple was engaged in a heated argument when the woman stabbed Terrence Smith in the chest.

Witnesses reported that after being attacked, Smith fell to the ground and was heard gasping “you stabbed me.” Despite his distress, the assailant walked away calmly, seemingly unfazed by the severity of her actions. Kenny noted that the woman continued east along Eastern Parkway, ultimately boarding a northbound 3 train at the Sutter Avenue subway station. She then disembarked at W. 163rd Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan, where her whereabouts remain unknown.

Police have yet to publicly disclose the identity of the suspect, although her name was reportedly found on Smith’s laptop. The couple had frequently communicated through video calls, indicating a close relationship prior to the incident. The altercation, which escalated rapidly, was captured on video by bystanders, according to Kenny.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the confrontation became physical when the woman forcefully pushed Smith to the ground. When he attempted to stand up and confront her again, she produced a knife and struck him in the abdomen. This violent altercation has left the local community in shock, as many observed the couple arguing moments before the stabbing occurred.

Emergency medical personnel rushed Smith to Kings County Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His tragic death has profoundly affected his family, leaving behind two sons who reside with their mother in New Jersey. Smith lived in Brownsville, just under a mile from the scene of the incident.

The victim’s father, Terrence Rivers, mournfully expressed disbelief over his son’s death, describing it as a devastating blow just days after his own 60th birthday. He characterized his son as a respectful individual and pleaded for an explanation regarding the circumstances that led to this fatal altercation. As of now, the woman remains at large, and the case continues to be a focus of the NYPD’s investigation. This incident highlights the urgent need for greater awareness and intervention in domestic disputes to prevent such tragedies in the future.
