This workshop is particularly well-suited for those urged by family and friends to articulate their personal stories, thereby creating a tangible legacy of memories that fosters social connections and enriches community engagement.

The workshop comprises a series of four sessions, each lasting two hours, that will be held in a supportive environment conducive to written expression. Scheduled for Fridays—specifically May 2, May 9, and May 16—and a Thursday session on May 22, these meetings will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Main Hall of La Colonia Park Community Center, located at 715 Valley Avenue in Solana Beach. This initiative aligns with SBCC’s ongoing mission to enhance community involvement among mature adults in the area.

Now entering its fourth iteration, the writing workshop has garnered a positive reputation for its interactive format and effective leadership. According to testimonials from previous participants, the workshop is praised for its inviting atmosphere and the quality of instruction provided.

Eberly Barnes, who oversees a writing program for undergraduates at the University of California, San Diego, will serve as the workshop facilitator. Enrollment for the workshop is limited to the first 15 individuals who register, emphasizing a first-come, first-served system. Those who miss the initial cutoff will be placed on a waiting list.
