In a recent Instagram Story, the filmmaker and actress expressed her discontent with the digitally manipulated tributes that have become a trend on social media, imploring fans to refrain from sending them to her.

In her post, Williams articulated her position clearly, stating, “Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad.” She emphasized that such creations do not align with her wishes or the legacy of her father, who passed away in 2014. Robin Williams was celebrated for his unique talent and lively spirit, and his daughter highlighted that he would not have condoned the artificial representations of his likeness.

Williams further condemned the trend surrounding these AI-generated tributes as disrespectful, not just to her father but to their shared experience as a family. She characterized the ongoing practice as unworthy of the great comedian’s memory and a waste of time. “If you’ve got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone, even,” she stated, positioning her argument against the backdrop of a growing concern about the ethical implications of using AI in entertainment.
