Three men arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Harlem man who was rebuilding his life after prison.
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of Jervey Barfield, a 33-year-old man who had recently turned his life around following a period of incarceration. Barfield, who had been released from prison approximately three years prior, was reportedly working to establish a new life, celebrating milestones such as acquiring his own apartment. The incident occurred during the early morning hours of May 3, outside a deli located on Frederick Douglass Boulevard near West 141st Street.
Police reports indicate that Barfield became embroiled in a confrontation with several men, which escalated into violence, resulting in him being stabbed multiple times in the back. Despite managing to flee the scene and running approximately one block, Barfield collapsed shortly thereafter. Emergency responders arrived on the scene, transporting him to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The subsequent investigation led to the apprehension of three suspects: Naquan Anderson, 37, Trevor Carpenter, 42, and Alvin Nelson, 44. According to law enforcement officials, Anderson and Nelson are facing murder charges, while Carpenter has been charged with manslaughter.
