23-Year-Old Man Shot Dead in Bronx Following Nearby Double Murder Incident

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday morning outside his apartment building in the Bronx, marking a troubling rise in violent incidents within the Throgs Neck neighborhood. The shooting occurred around 1:45 a.m. on Sampson Avenue, where the victim, Shane Sanchez, was engaged in an altercation with another individual when he was struck in the chest by gunfire, as reported by law enforcement officials. Emergency Medical Services transported Sanchez to Jacobi Hospital, but medical personnel were unable to save him.

The location of the shooting had previously been the scene of a significant fight requiring police intervention just prior to the shooting incident. It remains unclear if these two events are connected. This incident marks the fourth shooting and the third homicide in the Throgs Neck area within a single week, raising concerns among residents and law enforcement alike.

Just five days before Sanchez’s death, two men lost their lives in a separate shooting on Brush Avenue near Ferry Point Park. The victims, identified as 29-year-old Adam Waldropt and 22-year-old Gabriel Alvarez, were shot multiple times in a daytime assault that left community members in shock. Both individuals were also rushed to Jacobi Medical Center but succumbed to their injuries.

In the wake of these violent incidents, police are actively searching for suspects. Two individuals, wearing ski masks, reportedly fled the scene of the double homicide on a moped. Authorities have released images of seven persons of interest in connection with the shooting deaths and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The recent surge in violence is alarming, particularly in light of crime statistics for the 45th Precinct, which encompasses the Throgs Neck area. Prior to these recent events, the precinct had experienced three murders in the year 2025, compared to just two murders at the same time last year. Furthermore, the precinct has recorded six shooting incidents this year, an increase from four by the same period last year.

Community members and local officials are encouraged to take action by reporting any information regarding these shootings. The NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline (800-577-TIPS) is available for anonymous tips, as authorities remain vigilant in addressing the rise in crime and enhancing public safety.

This unsettling trend in violence serves as a bleak reminder of the challenges faced by urban neighborhoods in maintaining peace and security. As investigations continue, the hope for justice and resolution remains a priority for both the community and law enforcement agencies.
