Second suspect apprehended in connection with Grays Ferry mass shooting.

Philadelphia police have announced the arrest of a second suspect in connection with a mass shooting in the Grays Ferry neighborhood, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to nine others. The suspect, Daquan Brown, 21, was apprehended by homicide detectives and members of the SWAT team at a residence on the 1500 block of South Marston Street late Tuesday evening. This location is a mere block away from the scene of the shooting, which occurred on the 1500 block of South Etting Street.

Brown has been charged with multiple offenses, including murder. His arrest follows the prior detention of Terrell Frazier, 22, who was charged last week with three counts of murder and other related offenses. Additionally, authorities identified another suspect, Christopher Battle, 24, who is currently being sought as a third alleged gunman involved in the incident.

The chaotic event took place during a party on July 7, when police indicate that at least 13 guns were discharged in what appeared to be a panic instigated by the attendees believing they heard gunfire. According to law enforcement, over 120 shots were fired recklessly down the block during the incident, with all spent shell casings discovered in the vicinity where partygoers were discharging their firearms. Notably, no shell casings were found at the adjacent end of the block where the individuals were purportedly aiming.

Three lives were tragically lost in the shooting: Zahir Wylie, 23, from Overbrook; Jason Reese, 19, from West Philadelphia; and Azir Harris, 27, who had already been living with disabilities after being paralyzed from a previous shooting. The injured parties ranged in age from 15 to 24 years old, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the violence that unfolded during the gathering.

The police continue to urge anyone with information about the ongoing investigation or the whereabouts of Christopher Battle to come forward. As the community grapples with the ramifications of this violent episode, law enforcement remains committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
