Connecticut man surrenders to authorities in connection with Hartford murder case.

A 34-year-old man from Connecticut has turned himself into authorities and faces serious charges, including murder, following a fatal shooting incident in Hartford. The Hartford Police Department reported that Xavier Soto has been charged in connection with the shooting death of 38-year-old Miguel Alfinez, which occurred on a Friday evening.

According to police statements, Alfinez was shot shortly before 7 p.m. on Broadview Terrace, a neighborhood in Connecticut’s capital city. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene promptly and transported Alfinez to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The swift response of law enforcement enabled investigators to quickly identify Soto as a suspect in the case. Police obtained an arrest warrant, and Soto subsequently surrendered to authorities on Tuesday night.

During the course of the investigation, Soto has been charged with several criminal offenses, including first-degree murder, risk of injury to a child, first-degree reckless endangerment, and criminal use of a firearm. He is currently being held on a bond of million, as indicated by police records.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities have not disclosed specific evidence that led them to Soto as the suspect. However, Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police expressed the urgency of the situation given the violent nature of the crime.

Alfinez’s murder marks a troubling development in Hartford, which has experienced recent violence, including another homicide involving 29-year-old Frank Garay, a resident of Hartford. Garay was found deceased on a street in Waterbury just before 8 p.m. on a Monday night, approximately 20 miles from his hometown. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Garay’s shooting.
