The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) expressed profound dismay at this incident, particularly concerning the impact on children and civilians. They called for a prompt and impartial investigation to hold accountable those responsible for such tragic loss of life. The Commission underscored the state’s constitutional obligation to safeguard citizens’ rights to life and challenges the government to fulfill this essential protective role.
As Pakistan’s security forces continue to undertake operations against the TTP throughout Khyber and Bajaur, the socio-political landscape remains tense. The TTP has long been recognized as a formidable adversary, leading an armed rebellion against the state since its inception in 2007. Though connected by ideological roots, it remains distinct from the Afghan Taliban in governance and policy.
