Actor Peter Greene, 60, known for roles in ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘The Mask,’ has been found dead in his New York City apartment.

Peter Greene, an accomplished actor renowned for his portrayal of Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s iconic film “Pulp Fiction,” was discovered deceased in his Lower East Side apartment on Friday afternoon. Law enforcement officials and a resident of the building confirmed the tragic news. He was 60 years old.

Greene’s long-time manager, Gregg Edward, has informed the actor’s family of his passing. Meanwhile, a neighbor, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted that he found Greene in his apartment on Clinton Street after several residents reported hearing Christmas music emanating from within for several consecutive days. The NYPD confirmed that they responded to a report of a deceased 60-year-old man at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Friday, although initial statements did not disclose Greene’s identity.

The circumstances surrounding Greene’s death remain under investigation. No immediate indications of foul play have been reported. In the past, Greene had a documented history of substance use; he had openly discussed his struggles with addiction in interviews from the 1990s.

Residents began to notice the Christmas music coming from Greene’s apartment at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday. It was only on Friday that building management decided to send a locksmith to gain access, leading to the discovery of Greene’s body. Descriptions from neighbors revealed that he was found lying facedown on the floor, with visible injuries, though specific details about the nature of these injuries have not been disclosed.

Notably, a handwritten note was reportedly affixed to Greene’s apartment door, containing the phrase “I’m still a Westie,” referencing an Irish-American gang associated with Hell’s Kitchen during the 1970s and 1980s.

Greene was actively engaged in his career and had recently been cast in a film titled “Mascots,” featuring Mickey Rourke, with plans to commence shooting next year. Additionally, he was being considered for at least two other projects. Edward described Greene as a creative perfectionist, known for his belief in the importance of improvisation during performances.

Despite facing health challenges in recent years, Greene was reportedly in good physical condition and had a surgical procedure scheduled to remove a benign tumor near his lungs. His passing comes as a shock to those who knew him, particularly considering that he was relatively young and active.

The New York City medical examiner is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. Greene’s manager expressed sadness over the loss, highlighting Greene’s generous spirit and talent as both a person and a performer.

As the community mourns the loss of a talented actor, fans and colleagues alike remember his significant contributions to film and theater, leaving behind a legacy that will endure.
