As tensions escalated, Johnson allegedly made a deliberate decision to strike Hernandez with his van before fleeing the scene.
Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan clarified the series of events, noting that Hernández ended up on the vehicle’s hood or windshield as Johnson drove away. Hernandez reportedly fell off the van a short distance later. Tragically, Hernandez succumbed to blunt force injuries sustained during the altercation later that day, with the death classified as a homicide.
In the wake of the incident, the case was handed over to the U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force. Law enforcement officials issued a warrant for Johnson’s arrest for third-degree murder on December 10.
On Wednesday morning, homicide detectives from Allentown and members of the task force located Johnson at a family residence in southwest Philadelphia. He was arrested without incident and is now awaiting arraignment on the murder charge.
