North Texas Marks Beginning of a New Century of Impact

As the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas embarks on a new year and a new century of service, the organization reflects on a decade of impactful initiatives that have transformed the lives of nearly 2 million residents throughout North Texas. The “Live United” movement has made significant strides in supporting educational success, financial stability, and health resources for the community. In the past year alone, approximately 698,000 students received support through educational programs, while 571,000 local workers accessed resources that aided their financial wellness. Additionally, around 473,000 individuals benefitted from health initiatives aimed at improving their quality of life.

Celebrating its centennial in 2023, the United Way has harnessed this milestone to propel its mission forward. The organization’s commitment to the community was exemplified on November 30, 2023, during a grand Centennial Celebration, which attracted nearly 30,000 attendees. This momentous event not only commemorated the past but also catalyzed future efforts to address social disparities within the region.

Among the numerous initiatives highlighted over the past year, the Aspire United Volunteer Series took a leading role by mobilizing more than 5,000 volunteers from over 50 companies. These efforts included various community events ranging from reading initiatives to food resource fairs, collectively benefiting tens of thousands of residents. Moreover, a newly established workforce training hub in southern Dallas is set to connect local individuals with in-demand skills and well-paying job opportunities, an essential step in reducing economic inequities.

The organization’s ambitious goals—known as the Aspire United 2030 vision—aim to further elevate educational achievement, income levels, and health metrics in the region. Current statistics indicate promising strides, such as a 15% increase in third-grade reading proficiency and a slight rise in the number of young adults earning a living wage.

As the United Way gears up for its second century, it calls upon the community for collective action and investment. The goal is clear: to enhance access to education, income, and health equity across the region, ultimately aiming for a thriving North Texas where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

To learn more about the significant impact made in the community, individuals are encouraged to explore the 2024-2025 Impact Report, which is accessible through the United Way’s website. The next chapter promises to be one of continued growth and collaboration as the organization works steadfastly to make a lasting difference in the lives of North Texans.
