A nationwide outbreak of salmonella linked to the dietary supplement powder branded as Live It Up Super Greens has been reported by federal health authorities, with 45 confirmed cases across the United States. This information was disclosed in a statement released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Wednesday. Among those affected, twelve individuals required hospitalization due to their illnesses; fortunately, there have been no fatalities associated with this outbreak.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a recall of the product following the outbreak announcement. The recall applies to Live It Up Super Greens packages with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 to January 2028, affecting both original and wild berry flavors. The FDA has emphasized the widespread distribution of these supplements, which have been linked to reported salmonella illnesses in 21 states, including New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont.
While cases are scattered nationwide, a significant concentration of illnesses has been detected in the Midwest. States such as Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, and Kentucky have reported at least three cases each, with the illnesses predominantly occurring between August 22 and December 30, 2025. This demographic information highlights the regions most significantly impacted by the contamination.
Consumers who purchased Live It Up Super Greens products are urged to dispose of the recalled items or return them to the point of purchase, as per CDC recommendations. Alongside disposal guidance, the agency has advised individuals to remain vigilant for symptoms of salmonella infection. Common signs include severe diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration, which can arise after exposure to contaminated products.
The Live It Up Super Greens recall follows a similar incident that occurred just a few months prior, when Member’s Mark supplements sold at Sam’s Club were recalled due to an outbreak of salmonella that resulted in 11 reported illnesses, with three individuals requiring hospitalization. The recurrence of salmonella-related incidents in dietary supplements raises an important concern regarding product safety and consumer health.
