Video sheds light on NYPD detectives’ involvement in viral liquor store brawl.

Newly released surveillance footage from the BK Wine Depot in Boerum Hill provides a detailed account of the contentious encounter between two NYPD narcotics detectives and Timothy Brown, a 46-year-old man mistakenly identified as a suspect. This footage, which has garnered widespread attention, sheds light on the escalation of events that led to a violent clash, subsequently captured on video and circulated across social media platforms.

The incident occurred on a Tuesday when Brown was seen walking through the liquor store with a wine bottle. Detectives Volkan Maden and Michael Algerio, both in plainclothes and adorned with NYPD vests, approached him and attempted to put him in handcuffs. According to the video, as Det. Maden took the bottle from Brown, a struggle ensued. Brown resisted and pulled away his arms, leading the detectives to forcibly restrain him against a refrigerated display case.

As the confrontation escalated, Det. Maden was observed throwing punches at Brown, who ultimately fell onto a display of wine bottles, resulting in the destruction of numerous bottles and increasing chaos within the store. Witness statements and external video footage corroborate that Brown suffered a deep cut to his leg during the struggle, prompting the detectives to continue their attempts to secure his arrest while he lay bleeding on the glass-covered floor
