Suspect identified in rape of 50-year-old woman at Bronx building.

Police have identified a suspect in connection with the sexual assault of a 50-year-old woman that occurred in a Bronx building on April 17. The suspect, Isaiah Jones, who is also 50 years of age, is being sought by law enforcement officials who have released his mugshot to garner assistance from the public in locating him.

According to law enforcement reports, the incident took place near the intersection of West 164th Street and Ogden Avenue. The victim was approached by Jones around 7 p.m. as she was in the building. After the assault, Jones allegedly stole a gold chain and a cross pendant from the victim, in addition to taking from her possession.

Jones has a substantial criminal history, with a total of 11 prior arrests that include charges for assault, strangulation, and burglary. However, police records indicate that he has no prior offenses specifically related to sexual crimes. Authorities previously provided a composite sketch of the suspect, describing him as a man in his 30s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a goatee. At the time of the incident, he was last seen wearing a gray New York Yankees cap.

Law enforcement is urging anyone with information about Jones’s whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. The organization emphasizes that all tips will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.

This case underscores ongoing concerns about public safety in urban areas, particularly regarding violent crimes against women. Community members and advocacy groups are calling for increased vigilance and reporting mechanisms to combat such offenses and ensure the safety of residents.

The NYPD continues to actively investigate this case and seeks to apprehend Jones promptly to prevent any further incidents. As investigations into sexual assault cases remain a priority, collaboration between the police and the community is essential to pursuing justice for victims and enhancing public safety measures.
