MS-13 Suspect Extradited to New York for Kidnapping and Assault of Long Island Teen

A suspected member of the notorious MS-13 gang, Josue Zepeda Padilla, has been extradited to New York and arraigned in connection with the brutal assault and kidnapping of a 15-year-old boy last year. The arraignment took place on Wednesday, following more than a year-long search for Zepeda Padilla, who was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on March 5.

The charges against Zepeda Padilla stem from an incident in January 2024, when the victim was allegedly lured to the Huntington Long Island Rail Road station, where he was subsequently robbed and assaulted. According to investigators, Zepeda Padilla and other accomplices assaulted the boy before transporting him to an abandoned building. Reports indicate that during the assault, Zepeda Padilla covered the victim’s head with a hood and inflicted a stab wound to the neck, leaving him for dead.

In what can only be described as a miraculous turn of events, the victim regained consciousness after the attack. He managed to escape the abandoned building and reached a nearby road before collapsing. A passerby discovered the boy and promptly contacted emergency services, leading to his rescue.

Authorities announced in February 2024 that they had made six arrests related to this case. Those apprehended included Brayan Jimenez Avila, Yeison Chavez Campos, Maycoll Ramirez Cerrato, and Marcos Serpos, all of whom are accused of physically assaulting the teenager. Additionally, Maybelline Garcia Cornejo faces charges for driving the group from the attack site, while an unnamed minor is believed to have played a role in luring the victim to the station.

While law enforcement swiftly apprehended the six other suspects, Zepeda Padilla managed to evade capture for an extended period, eluding authorities until his arrest in North Carolina last month.
