Another suspect identified in South Philadelphia shooting that injured eight individuals.
In the aftermath of a violent shooting incident outside a South Philadelphia lounge that left eight individuals injured, authorities have identified a second suspect, Nino DaSilvio, aged 22. This announcement was made by the U.S. Marshals Service on Friday, details regarding DaSilvio’s residence were not disclosed. He faces charges for aggravated assault among other offenses.
The incident occurred in the early hours of July 5, at approximately 4 a.m. Reports indicate that the violence erupted following a knife fight that spilled out onto the second-floor balcony of the 7 Elements lounge, located within the Dung Phat Plaza shopping center at the intersection of 11th Street and Washington Avenue. During the chaos, one gunman reportedly opened fire on the crowd, prompting Michael Welton, a 43-year-old security guard who was present at the scene, to return fire alongside a second unidentified individual. The initial shooter is believed to have fled the area in a white Mercedes vehicle.
Welton has since surrendered to police and faces serious charges, including attempted murder. After being processed, he was released on 0,000 unsecured bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on August 1, according to court records.
Among the victims of the shooting was a 25-year-old woman who sustained injuries when a bullet struck her while she was in her vehicle. Fortunately, all those wounded have been reported in stable condition following the attack.
In the wake of the incident, law enforcement officials have intensified their investigation. On Thursday, authorities released images of a third suspect involved in the shooting, who remains unidentified at this time. The community is notably concerned about the rise in violence associated with events at local venues, raising heightened awareness and calls for increased security measures in the nightlife district.
As investigations continue, public safety remains a priority for local law enforcement, and officials are urging anyone with information regarding the suspects to come forward. The case exemplifies ongoing challenges related to gun violence and public safety in urban areas, prompting discussions about preventive strategies and community engagement.
