Dog the Bounty Hunter’s son is on leave following a crash that resulted in the death of a teenager in Alabama.

In a tragic incident that has drawn public attention, Garry Chapman, the son of renowned reality television star Dog the Bounty Hunter, has been placed on administrative leave following a fatal high-speed police chase in Hartselle, Alabama, over the weekend. The incident resulted in the death of 17-year-old Tristan Hollis and left five others injured.

The Priceville Police Department confirmed that Officer Chapman was relieved of his duties on Sunday, a day after the collision, to ensure a thorough investigation could take place. This action is standard protocol for police officers involved in significant incidents, according to Priceville Mayor Sam Heflin. Chapman’s leave will remain in effect pending the investigation’s outcome.

On Saturday evening, around 8:30 PM, an attempted traffic stop on a suspected drunk driver initiated a high-speed pursuit that culminated tragically. The driver, identified as Archie Hale, failed to comply with Officer Chapman’s signal and instead attempted to flee, leading to a chase that ended when Hale’s vehicle collided with Hollis’ minivan at the intersection of Highway 36 and U.S. 31.

The devastating crash resulted in the hospitalization of six individuals: Hollis, Hale, a passenger in Hale’s vehicle, and three boys who were with Hollis in the minivan. Sadly, Hollis succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The current status of the other victims has not been disclosed.

In a statement to the media, Hartselle Police Chief Alan McDearmond described the investigation into the incident as complex and in-depth, indicating that it would require time to conclude. As of now, Hale has not been formally charged in connection with the crash, but law enforcement authorities have indicated that charges are anticipated.
