The incident occurred on the morning of August 4, 2023, while Moore, who was still serving as an NYPD officer, was en route from a night out in Rockville Centre to his work assignment in Queens. Investigators revealed that Moore was driving a 2014 Mercedes-Benz at high speed along the Meadowbrook State Parkway with a female passenger when he collided with the rear of a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in Moore’s vehicle overturning and catching fire at the roadside. Fortunately, both Moore and his passenger managed to escape serious injury, although the female driver of the Jeep sustained injuries but ultimately survived.
