Recent developments have emerged concerning the troubling cases of two Venezuelan immigrants who were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and subsequently deported from the United States. Family members of Neiyerver Adrian Leon Rengel, 27, and Ricardo Prada Vasquez, 32, have reported their complete disappearance following their deportations, raising serious concerns about their safety and well-being.

Leon Rengel arrived in the United States in June 2023 and had been permitted to stay while his immigration case was under review. However, on March 13, he was apprehended by ICE agents at his apartment in the Dallas suburb of Irving. Similarly, Prada Vasquez was also granted temporary stay during the course of his immigration proceedings. His situation became precarious in January when he inadvertently crossed into Canada from Detroit, prompting his detention in U.S. immigration facilities.

Both families believe that Leon Rengel and Prada Vasquez were among a group of deportees sent on three flights from the United States to El Salvador on March 15. Reports suggest that these flights specifically targeted individuals suspected of gang affiliations, many of whom were sent to a large-scale prison in San Salvador. However, it is crucial to emphasize that neither Leon Rengel nor Prada Vasquez have any criminal records indicative of gang involvement; Prada Vasquez holds a clean record in the U.S., while Leon Rengel faced only a minor marijuana possession charge in Texas.

Post-deportation, both men have been removed from the U.S. immigration system altogether, and federal authorities have confirmed their removal. Yet, family members remaining in Venezuela have reported difficulties in locating either individual, fueling anxiety about their current status. Legal complexities have further clouded their cases, as a federal judge previously ruled that the deportation flights to El Salvador contravened legal requirements, noting that the deportees were denied due process. Despite this ruling, the Trump administration has reportedly ignored judicial orders to facilitate the return of those deported.
