Jamie Lee Curtis honors the memory of her late ex-boyfriend Robert Carradine.

Jamie Lee Curtis is reflecting on her past relationship with Robert Carradine, who passed away at the age of 71. The actor’s death, attributed to suicide, has elicited heartfelt remembrances from friends and family, including Curtis, who took to social media to share her sentiments.

In a poignant tribute posted on Instagram, Curtis, now 67, recalled their early romance as a formative experience, describing it as her first significant encounter with domesticity, motherhood, and partnership. She reminisced about their “very public meet cute” during a 1977 interview on the television program “Dinah!” where a young Carradine orchestrated the seating arrangement so he could sit beside her, ultimately planting a kiss on her during the live broadcast.

During the early days of their relationship, both Curtis and Carradine were relatively unknown in Hollywood. They dated for a period and even fostered a familial bond, residing together in a modest, dirt-floored house in Laurel Canyon, along with Carradine’s young daughter, Ever. Curtis reflected on these memories with warmth, recalling simple yet beautiful moments, such as walking to the local market with Ever and doing laundry together.

Curtis also disclosed that it took time for her to connect Carradine to his earlier roles, particularly in the 1972 film “The Cowboys.” She admitted that he was her initial cinematic crush, an affection she hadn’t recognized until much later.

Despite the eventual end of their romantic relationship, Curtis and Carradine maintained a supportive friendship. She continues to have a relationship with Ever, who is now 51 and has pursued a career in acting herself. Ever paid tribute to her father on Instagram, describing him as “a lover, not a fighter” and noting that he was “all heart.”

The news of Carradine’s death was reported by various media outlets, with confirmation from his brother, actor Keith Carradine. The family issued a statement highlighting Robert’s lengthy battle with bipolar disorder, emphasizing the importance of destigmatizing mental health issues. Keith, 76, expressed the desire to honor Robert’s struggle and celebrate his spirit, underscoring the harsh realities of mental illness.

As the entertainment industry mourns the loss of Carradine, tributes from those who knew him continue to pour in, reflecting the impact he had on their lives. His legacy as an actor, as well as a figure of resilience in the face of personal challenges, remains a central theme in these remembrances.
