Long Island police officer faces rape and assault charges for allegedly operating a brothel.
A Suffolk County police officer with a tenure of 18 years has been indicted on multiple charges, including third-degree rape and sexual assault. The indictment of George Trimigliozzi, 56, marks a significant development in an ongoing investigation into his alleged involvement in a prostitution ring, for which he had already been facing legal repercussions. He has pleaded not guilty to one count of third-degree rape, one count of first-degree sexual abuse, and one count of misdemeanor unlawful imprisonment.
Trimigliozzi’s troubles began last October when authorities suspended him after he was charged in connection with a prostitution operation that spanned several locations across Long Island. The latest charges claim that he assaulted a woman in her home following a date in June 2022. According to prosecutors, the woman invited Trimigliozzi into her residence under the assumption that she would be safe with a police officer present. However, once inside, it is alleged that he followed her into her bedroom, forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse with her against her will.
Additionally, Trimigliozzi is accused of sexually assaulting another woman during a separate incident in May 2021 while they were seated in a vehicle. Authorities reported that Trimigliozzi initiated unwanted sexual contact and, when the woman attempted to exit the car, he obstructed her efforts by closing the door and blocking her escape route. Given the nature of the allegations, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney expressed grave concern, stating that law enforcement personnel are sworn to protect the community, making these accusations particularly disturbing.
Before the recent indictment, Trimigliozzi faced serious allegations related to running a brothel inside the American Girls Spa located in Holbrook. Investigators alleged that he not only managed the establishment but also profited from the systematic promotion of prostitution. The investigation into his actions began after an incident in March 2021, where Trimigliozzi reportedly left his post while on duty to respond to a private call concerning a robbery at the spa.
As the case unfolds, Trimigliozzi’s legal situation remains precarious, with significant implications for both his former role in law enforcement and the broader community’s trust in police accountability. The Suffolk County Police Department is expected to closely monitor the proceedings as more details emerge. The nature of these allegations highlights an ongoing need for scrutiny and transparency within law enforcement agencies.
