At least 91 Palestinian individuals lost their lives on Saturday due to intensified military actions across the Gaza Strip, with at least 45 casualties reported in Gaza City. This escalation has been characterized as a continuation of the widely scrutinized ground invasion by Israeli forces.

The Gaza Government Media Office has issued a statement condemning Israel for misleading the Palestinian populace by suggesting that certain areas in the central and southern governorates are “safe humanitarian zones.” This claim has been undermined by continued military strikes in these very regions. According to the office, the alarming reality is that 1,903 individuals have been killed across 133 attacks in central and southern Gaza since the forced displacement from Gaza City commenced on August 11. This statistic comprises approximately 46 percent of total reported deaths within the enclave during this timeframe.

The office has expressed urgent calls for international intervention, arguing that the failure to act on these developments effectively grants a “green light” for ongoing violence against civilians. Reports from Gaza indicate that military attacks have increased significantly, with many victims arriving at al-Shifa Hospital following the escalation of hostilities.

Hospitals in Gaza City have been forced to close amid ongoing bombardments, further complicating already dire healthcare conditions. One of the city’s key medical facilities, the Jordan Field Hospital, had to evacuate all 107 patients and its staff in response to heavy shelling. Medical personnel are grappling with severe shortages of essential supplies, including anesthesia and antibiotics, as doctors struggle to provide care for patients in desperate need.

Despite the challenging situation, many healthcare facilities remain operational under extreme stress, accommodating an influx of patients fleeing from northern regions. The sheer number of displaced individuals has exacerbated the situation in these hospitals, leading to overcrowding and compromised care.

Dr. Khalil Digran, a physician at Al-Aqsa Hospital, has noted deliberate attacks on specialized medical facilities, including the al-Rantisi Pediatric Hospital. As critical healthcare infrastructure is under siege, the remaining fully operational hospitals face overwhelming pressure, threatening to halt their essential services entirely.

Moreover, in a broader context, global protests advocating for a ceasefire took place on Saturday in cities like Berlin, Germany, and Liverpool, UK. Meanwhile, Hamas has indicated that it has not yet received details regarding a potential ceasefire plan proposed by U.S. officials. A Hamas representative confirmed that discussions of a ceasefire remain unformalized, which raises questions about the commitment to peace in the region. In the meantime, world leaders continue to seek diplomatic solutions to ongoing tensions.

This situation underscores the urgent need for humanitarian assistance and a constructive dialogue aimed at establishing lasting peace and stability in the region.
