Residents Launch New Initiative to Benefit Community
Huntington Beach, California – Serena Starks, a resident of Huntington Beach, has embarked on a significant journey as a newly accepted member of the Peace Corps. Scheduled to depart for Peru on April 5, Starks will begin her role as a community economic development facilitator, a position that emphasizes engagement with communities to enhance their economic capabilities.
Starks, an accomplished scholar, graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor’s degree in Public and International Affairs. Her academic background aligns with the core mission of the Peace Corps, which is to foster relationships and understanding between American volunteers and the communities they serve.

As a community economic development facilitator, Starks aims to empower individuals by enhancing their financial literacy and business acumen. Peace Corps volunteers typically spend two years in their host communities after undergoing three months of comprehensive training.
