The nearly five-hour meeting concluded without a significant breakthrough. Yuri Ushakov, a top Kremlin aide who participated in the talks, stated, “So far we haven’t found a compromise, but some American solutions can be discussed.” He emphasized that while the discussions were “very useful and constructive,” considerable work remains to be done in both Washington and Moscow.
The U.S. delegation traveled to Russia to present a revised peace plan, following criticism of an earlier 28-point draft that was perceived as favoring Russia. The Kremlin has condemned counter-proposals from Kyiv and European nations, with Putin asserting that terms presented are “unacceptable” for Russia.

During a recent visit to Ireland, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for a “dignified peace,” expressing concerns about the potential for diminishing U.S. interest in the conflict.
President Trump acknowledged the difficulties of the negotiation process at a recent cabinet meeting, indicating the U.S. could potentially meet with a Ukrainian delegation soon. Meanwhile, Russia claimed to have seized Pokrovsk, a strategically significant city in Ukraine’s Donbas region. While Kyiv has denied this assertion, they suggest that Moscow aims to project an illusion of inevitable territorial advancement.
