Toyota and Hyundai recall over 1.1 million vehicles due to seat belt and panel display issues.
Toyota and Hyundai have announced a significant recall affecting approximately 1.1 million vehicles due to critical safety concerns regarding instrument panel displays and seat belt functionality, as reported by U.S. auto regulators.
Toyota’s recall encompasses 591,377 vehicles, highlighting an issue in which the instrument panel display may fail to provide essential information to the driver. This failure can obstruct visibility of crucial data, including vehicle speed, brake system status, and tire pressure warning lights. Such deficiencies pose a serious risk of accidents and potential injuries to drivers and passengers.
The affected models include a range of vehicles from both Toyota and Lexus, spanning the years 2023 to 2025. Among these are the Toyota Venza, RAV4 Prime, RAV4, GR Corolla, and Crown, in addition to the 2024-2025 Lexus TX and LS, and the Toyota Tacoma and Grand Highlander. The recall also affects the 2025 Lexus RX, Toyota Crown Signia, Camry, RAV4 plug-in hybrid, and 4Runner.
In response to this safety issue, Toyota will offer free updates to the instrument panel software for non-plug-in hybrid vehicles. For those affected plug-in hybrids, dealers will either update the software or replace the instrument panel display, also at no cost to the owners.
Customers seeking additional information can reach out to Toyota’s customer service at 800-331-4331, referencing recall numbers 25TB08 and 25TA08 for Toyota vehicles, and 25LB05 and 25LA05 for Lexus models.
Meanwhile, Hyundai is initiating a recall affecting 568,580 Palisade SUVs due to a potentially faulty seat belt buckle. There is a risk that these buckles may fail to latch properly, which compromises the safety of passengers by failing to adequately secure them in the event of a crash. This malfunction increases the risk of injury.
Until a permanent resolution can be implemented, Hyundai advises passengers to ensure that they firmly insert the seat belt into the buckle using a quick and direct motion and test the security of the connection by pulling on the belt. Dealers will conduct inspections of the seat belt buckle assemblies and will replace them if necessary, with all services provided free of charge.
Owners of the affected Hyundai vehicles can contact customer service at 855-371-9460 and refer to recall number 283. Additionally, vehicle owners can search their vehicle identification numbers (VIN) on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website for further details.
Both companies prioritize customer safety and are taking necessary actions to remedy these issues to ensure the well-being of their users on the road.
