Two young individuals die in a fiery accident on the Queens Belt Parkway involving a BMW.

A tragic accident on the Belt Parkway resulted in the deaths of two individuals over the weekend. Authorities have identified the driver as 24-year-old Noah Thompson and one of his passengers as 22-year-old Jewel Perez. Both were involved in a high-speed collision early Saturday morning that left several others injured and raised concerns regarding road safety in the area.

According to police reports, Thompson was driving eastbound on the Belt Parkway around 6 a.m. when he lost control of his white BMW, slamming into a concrete divider near the Cross Bay Boulevard exit in Howard Beach. Officials confirmed that none of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, which subsequently sent the car airborne. The BMW landed in an oncoming lane, colliding with two additional vehicles, a Honda CR-V and a red Hyundai, before bursting into flames.

Emergency responders rushed both Thompson and Perez to Brookdale University Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. Thompson’s three other passengers, a 21-year-old woman and two men aged 25, sustained only minor injuries. Meanwhile, the drivers of the Honda CR-V and Hyundai were hospitalized but reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities had intended to obtain a blood warrant for Thompson to test for alcohol, as speculation mounts regarding the potential factors behind this devastating incident. Perez’s brother, Khaseim Perez, expressed his deep sorrow and raised questions surrounding the crash, suggesting that alcohol or speeding may have played a role. He described his sister as a devoted mother of two young children, ages 3 and 1, who had aspirations of entering the medical field.

The repercussions of this accident extend beyond the immediate loss of life, with family members and friends mourning the unexpected death of both individuals. Family sources revealed that Perez had spent significant time in foster care before reconnecting with her family and starting her own. Based on recent conversations, her brother highlighted her interest in pursuing a career as a nursing assistant, a testament to her caring nature.

In the aftermath, online tributes pour in for both victims, with friends and family expressing their grief and sharing memories of their kindness and support. The incident has reignited discussions regarding traffic safety protocols and the importance of vehicle safety, particularly the critical role that seat belts play in safeguarding passengers during such tragic events.

As investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash, the community remains in mourning for the lives lost and the families affected.
