Federal authorities have arrested a man suspected of shooting and injuring a teenager in Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood last week. The United States Marshals Service apprehended Keith Holmes, 43, around 10 a.m. on a recent Wednesday on the first block of North 63rd Street in West Philadelphia. Officials reported that Holmes surrendered peacefully after marshals located him at a relative’s residence and announced their presence.

Holmes’s arrest took place approximately three miles from the scene of the incident, where he is alleged to have shot a 13-year-old boy twice in the abdomen. This shooting occurred at the intersection of 57th Street and Kingsessing Avenue around 6:40 p.m. on the previous Thursday. According to authorities, the violence stemmed from an altercation involving an argument over freshly poured concrete.

After sustaining the injuries, the teenager was transported to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was reported to be in stable condition. Following the incident, law enforcement officials swiftly issued an arrest warrant for Holmes. The urgency of the situation was underscored by Robert Clark, a supervisory deputy for the Marshals Fugitive Task Force, who emphasized that there is no justification for violent acts against children and affirmed that those responsible would be held accountable.

As of Tuesday, police data revealed 444 shootings in Philadelphia for the year 2025, marking a nearly 29% decline compared to the same period last year.
