Upcoming Philadelphia concerts feature performances by Alex G, My Morning Jacket, Mumford & Sons, and Patti LaBelle this week.
In Philadelphia’s vibrant music scene, this week promises to deliver an eclectic array of performances that cater to a wide variety of musical tastes. Notable events include two consecutive nights featuring acclaimed indie musician Alex G and the popular rock band My Morning Jacket. Alongside these concerts, the legendary Patti LaBelle will headline a free concert at Independence Hall, coinciding with celebrations of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps’ 250th anniversary.
Beginning on Thursday, Union Transfer will host Petey USA, a TikTok influencer turned indie pop artist known for his catchy single “The Yips.” Concurrently, Chris Forsyth and his band What Is Not will take the stage at 48 Record Bar, offering audiences a taste of innovative guitar-driven melodies.
Also on Thursday, Billy Bob Thornton brings his band, The Boxmasters, to the Sellersville Theater to promote their latest album, “Pepper Tree Hill,” in honor of the British Invasion. Similarly, the shoegaze band Cigarettes for Breakfast will be performing at PhilaMOCA, supporting their new album “Slow Motion,” along with acts such as Glimmer, Flat Waves, and Pale Shade.
Friday is set to feature the Queen Jeans Ball fundraiser at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, benefitting the nonprofit organization Donate Delaware. The event will showcase several artists, including Low Cut Connie and Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers.
Later that evening, City Winery Philadelphia will welcome R&B singer Mali Music, while up-and-coming singer-songwriter Lily Seabird will grace the 700 in Northern Liberties to promote her album “Trash Mountain.” Meanwhile, Jon Houlon, a central figure in both the bands John Train and the Donuts, will take the stage at Fergie’s Pub, highlighting his contributions to the local music community.
As the weekend unfolds, fans can look forward to performances by Young Gun Silver Fox at Ardmore Music Hall, followed by two nights of My Morning Jacket at the Met, celebrating the launch of their new album produced by Brendan O’Brien.
On Saturday, Team Dresch, the iconic punk band of the 1990s, will perform at the First Unitarian Church. The night will also feature the Cuban pianist Jorge Luis Pacheco making his Philadelphia debut at the Annenberg Center, showcasing a blend of modern jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
The week wraps up with Sombr’s much-anticipated performance on Sunday, part of his “The Late Nights and Young Romance” tour. Similarly, Lancaster County’s rising star Madi Diaz will showcase her latest album, “Fatal Optimist,” at the Fillmore.
