Kada Scott, a 23-year-old Philadelphia woman whose remains were discovered in a wooded area behind an abandoned school, has been identified as a homicide victim, following an examination by the medical examiner’s office. According to officials, Scott died from a gunshot wound to the head, with her death officially classified as a homicide. The determination of her date of death has been established as October 18, 2025.
Scott was reported missing on October 4, 2025, shortly after she arrived for her shift at an assisted living facility in Chestnut Hill around 10 p.m. Authorities confirmed on Monday that the human remains found in a shallow grave near Ada H. Lewis Middle School belonged to Scott, casting further light on the tragic circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
The investigation has led to the arrest of 21-year-old Keon King, who was taken into custody on October 14. Initially charged with several crimes, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, and stalking, King now faces additional charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, and robbery. It is reported that King was the last person known to be in contact with Scott before her disappearance.
Court documents reveal that prior to her abduction, Scott sent a text message to a phone number linked to King, conspicuously stating “kidnap me again,” to which King responded, “better be up too.” This exchange reportedly occurred on the morning of October 4, the same day officials allege King abducted Scott from her workplace.
In a public statement, Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to pursue justice for Scott and her family, alongside all victims of crime. King is currently being held at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on a bail set at .5 million and is expected to be arraigned on the murder charge soon.
