Motorcyclist, 56, killed in collision with SUV in Harlem.
A tragic collision in Harlem resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on Friday morning, according to authorities. The incident occurred around 1:18 a.m. when a 56-year-old man riding a 2024 Surron electric motorcycle was involved in a crash with a 2021 Toyota Highlander SUV driven by a 59-year-old man. The accident took place at the intersection of Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard and West 139th Street.
Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on the boulevard when he entered the intersection and collided with the SUV, which was heading west. The force of the impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown onto the street, resulting in significant head and body trauma.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) swiftly responded to the scene and transported the injured motorcyclist to Harlem Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Officials stated that the driver of the SUV remained at the scene following the accident. As of now, no arrests have been made as the New York Police Department’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad has taken the lead in investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
